Palmela
A sunny district of low hills and sandy soils near the Sado River and Atlantic ocean that has recently received DO status. Palmela’s maritime-influenced, warm climate experiences minimal rain during the growing season. Its sandy soils are planted primarily to Periquita and it produces mostly soft, agreeable, early maturing wines.
